Poker Hand Rankings

In ORDER from the HIGHEST (Strongest) to the LOWEST (Weakest)

The Royal Flush

An ACE-HIGH Straight with all cards being of the SAME SUIT.

The Straight Flush

Any Straight with all cards being of the SAME SUIT.

Four-of-a-Kind

Four Cards of the Same Rank (eg, four deuces, four Jacks, etc). Sometimes refered to as "Quads". The fifth card is irrelevant.

The Full House

A hand with three cards of the same rank (ie, 3-of-a-kind) as well as a Pair.

Flush

A hand where all five cards are of the SAME SUIT (eg, all hearts, all spades, etc). If two players each have a flush, the player who has the HIGHEST flush wins. For example a Ace-High flush will beat at King-High flush.

Straight

Note: Aces may be used for either and Ace-High Straight, or the so-called "wheel" or "bicycle" straight (where Ace is the low card) such as A,2,3,4,5. If two players each have a straight, the player who has the HIGHEST straight wins. For example a King-High straight will beat at Jack-High straight.

Three-of-a-Kind

A hand where three cards are of the SAME RANK (eg, three sevens, three queens, etc).

Two Pair

A hand with two cards of the same rank, and another two cards with the same rank (where the second pair is a different rank from the first). If two players both have two pair, the player with the HIGHEST pair wins.

A Pair

A hand with two cards of the same rank.

High Card

A very low hand, not even so much as a pair. Believe it or not this hand can win some pots. If you have something like AK and your opponent has behaved as though he was on a flush or straight draw, your high card hand may hold up as the best.

NOTE: There are NO WILD CARDS in Texas Holdem.
